Shut the water, take off the hot handle and bonnet, and lift the cartridge out. Match a black plastic cartridge about 2-3/4 in. long with a brass-tipped splined stem, a hex top and a two-port base. A cartridge with a blue seal at the base and a threaded brass retainer nut is the 15mm centerset style, a different part.
The spout drips with the hot handle shut, water weeps around the handle base, or the handle turns stiff or will not shut off fully. A new cartridge restores the shutoff without replacing the faucet.
