Will it fit?

Fits

  • Bathroom sinks and vanity tops with a built-in overflow opening
  • Standard 1-1/4 in. lavatory drain holes
  • Porcelain, ceramic, cultured marble and stainless basins
  • Faucets with a vertical lift rod behind the spout

Not compatible with

  • Basins with no overflow opening
  • Vessel sinks
  • Grid drains
  • Push-button or toe-touch drains
  • Kitchen basket strainers

Is this your part?

Look inside the bowl for the small oval overflow opening near the rim. This drain has two open overflow slots in the barrel, so the basin must have that channel. Confirm the drain hole is the standard 1-1/4 in. lavatory size and that you have at least 8-1/2 in. from the flange face down to the trap.

When to replace it

The basin will not hold water, the stopper will not lift or seat, the flange seeps around the drain hole, or the tailpiece drips into the cabinet. Replacing the whole drain covers all of those at once.

How to install it

Time: 20 to 30 minutes. Tools: Adjustable pliers, Small wrench, Plumber's putty, Bucket.

  1. Set a bucket under the trap and break the slip nut.
  2. Back off the old locknut and lift the old drain body out of the basin.
  3. Bed the new flange in fresh plumber's putty.
  4. Tighten the locknut from below in small steps. One hard pull can crack a porcelain basin.
  5. Thread the pivot rod in and hook the clevis strap to the lift rod.
  6. Check that the stopper seats and releases, then reconnect the trap.

Questions

Is this the same drain as the chrome version?

Yes. Same assembly, brushed nickel finish. The chrome version is FourHome 4HB00018.

Does it fit a sink with no overflow hole?

No. The barrel has open overflow slots. A basin with no overflow needs a sealed drain.

Is plumber's putty included?

No. Use plumber's putty under the flange so the drain stays serviceable later.

Is it code listed?

Yes. It is cUPC listed, and the mark is cast into the drain body so an inspector can read it on the installed part.
