How to install it
Time: About 15 minutes. Tools: Deep socket sized to the bonnet, Adjustable wrench, Flashlight.
- Shut the water and open the faucet to bleed pressure.
- Pull the handle and escutcheon.
- Back the old stem out with a deep socket.
- Check the brass seat with a flashlight. A pitted seat keeps a new stem dripping.
- Thread the new stem in by hand, then snug it.
- Refit the trim, restore water and test the shutoff.

Is 17088 a Speakman part number?
No. 17088 is the Danco retail number (17088B, sold as 8P-3H/C) for this stem.
Does one stem fit both sides?
Yes. It serves the hot or the cold position.
Is it the same as the Speakman G05-0407?
No. The G05-0407 is 4 in. with a square broach. FourHome sells it separately.
