Will it fit?

Fits

  • Delta MultiChoice Universal rough-in valves R10000, R11000, R18000 and R22000
  • Single-function 13 and 14 Series tub and shower trim
  • Valves built after March 2006

Not compatible with

  • Delta 1300 or 1400 Series valves (they take RP19804)
  • MultiChoice valves built before March 2006
  • Delta 17 or 17T Series
  • Delta thermostatic valves and two-handle Delta faucets

Is this your part?

Pull the handle and escutcheon and look into the bonnet. The 13/14 Series cartridge is a white barrel about 4-1/2 in. tall with a toothed limit-stop ring at the top and a splined stem in the center. Valves built before March 2006 hold a shorter cartridge with a brass stem and no built-in limit stop.

When to replace it

The shower drips at the head or spout after shutoff, spikes hot or cold when a toilet flushes, drifts off temperature mid-shower, or the handle grinds, sticks or turns hard.

How to install it

Time: About 30 minutes. Tools: Screwdriver or hex key, Adjustable wrench or pliers.

  1. Shut off the supply and open the valve to bleed pressure.
  2. Remove the handle screw, handle and escutcheon.
  3. Unthread the bonnet nut and draw the old cartridge straight out.
  4. Seat the new cartridge with the hot side to the left and the keyway lined up with the valve body.
  5. Refit the bonnet nut.
  6. Set the rotational limit stop to your old setting before the handle goes back on, or the shower runs too hot or too cold.

Questions

How do I know if my valve is 13/14 Series?

Look for a white cartridge with a toothed limit-stop ring on top. Older 1300/1400 valves have a brass stem and no built-in stop.

Does it fit my 1300 or 1400 Series valve?

No. Those older Monitor valves take Delta RP19804.

Is the bonnet nut included?

No. Reuse the one on your valve. Delta sells the cartridge with a bonnet nut as RP22734.

The water is too hot or too cold after the swap. Why?

The limit stop was not transferred. Set it to your old position before refitting the handle.
