Will it fit?
Fits
- Kohler Rite-Temp 1/2 in. single-handle pressure balancing valves
- Kohler K-304 and K-11748 valve bodies
- Sterling Rite-Temp valves
Not compatible with
- Kohler thermostatic or MasterShower valves
- Kohler two-handle or three-handle faucets
- Kohler lavatory or kitchen cartridges
- Single-handle shower valves from other brands
Is this your part?
Pull the handle and escutcheon and remove the black plastic mixer cap. The balancing cartridge is the dark spool behind it in the valve body. Rite-Temp rough-in valves carry K-304 or K-11748 on the casting. If the cap itself is cracked or scaled, buy the GP876851 kit, which includes a new cap.
When to replace it
The shower swings hot or cold when a toilet flushes, runs lukewarm and will not come up to temperature, drips from the head with the handle off, or goes weak on one side.
