Pull the handle and look at the top of the valve. A 1200/1225-style cartridge sits under a horseshoe retainer clip and lifts straight up. It has a flat side that faces the front of the faucet and a stem you push and pull to turn the water on. The body measures about 3-3/4 in.
The spout drips after the handle is off, water seeps past the handle base, the temperature drifts hot or cold, the handle has gone stiff and gritty, or flow has dropped on one side. Those are worn cartridge seals, not a failed faucet.
