Will it fit?

Fits

  • Pfister and Price Pfister two-handle compression lavatory faucets
  • Pfister and Price Pfister two-handle compression kitchen faucets
  • Hot and cold sides of the same faucet

Not compatible with

  • The 21/32 x 18 Pfister tub and shower seat (970-500 or 5713)
  • 5/16 in. and 7/16 in. tall 1/2 x 20 seats used by other brands
  • Any 1/2 x 24 seat
  • Single-handle cartridge faucets and ceramic disc faucets
  • Valve bodies with a seat cast into the body (not removable)

Is this your part?

Pull the handle and stem and back the old seat out with a seat wrench. If it came out of a Pfister sink faucet and measures 1/2 in. x 20 thread, 3/8 in. tall and 9/16 in. across the face, this is the seat. The larger 21/32 in. seat comes out of Pfister tub and shower valves and is a different part.

When to replace it

The sink faucet drips from the spout no matter how hard the handle is turned, water weeps around the handle base, or a fresh stem washer stopped the drip for a week and then it came back. That pattern is a grooved seat face, not a bad washer.

What is in the box

How to install it

Time: 5 to 10 minutes per seat. Tools: Seat wrench, Screwdriver, Adjustable wrench, Thread sealant or PTFE tape.

  1. Shut off the water and open the faucet to bleed pressure.
  2. Pull the handle and the stem.
  3. Seat the wrench squarely in the socket so it does not round out, and back the old seat out counterclockwise.
  4. Put thread sealant or PTFE tape on the new seat.
  5. Thread it in until snug, then stop. An overtightened brass seat can strip the pocket, and a stripped pocket means replacing the valve.
  6. Reassemble, restore water and check every handle.

Questions

Is this the same as the Pfister 970-500 seat?

No. The 970-500 is the larger 21/32 x 18 seat for Pfister tub and shower valves. Some parts listings mix the two up, so measure the thread. FourHome sells the 970-500 seats in a 10 pack too.

How many faucets does a 10 pack cover?

Ten seats rebuild both sides of five two-handle sink faucets, or cover ten single-side repairs.

Is a seat wrench included?

No. You need a seat wrench that fits the socket in the seat.
